MORPHINE - HEROIN Equivilant dosage

Anyone have any idea what the equivilant dosage smoking heroin would be for someone using MS Contin 100mg BID (1 tab in the morning 1 in the evening)?

How much would they be smoking and how often each day?

I've never smoked heroin, but I'm guessing it's much like pods... just in the fact that nobody is certain of it's potency w/out a GC/MS, or whatever that machine is that can tell you specific amounts of alkaloids. And since heroin isn't made in labs that regulate specific dosages...

Also, perhaps you could give the ROA of the MS's. If it's orally, you're only getting about 30mg of morphine, whereas IV would be 100mg.

Sorry I couldn't give you a quantitative answer, but the rule of thumb is to start low and work up. It's like a haircut, once it's cut you can't put it back on :D

this question only has a real answer if your heroin is pure and your somehow able to determine exactly how much morphine your ingesting and in what manner. sorry no help here.

IV heroin is around 3 times more potent than IV morphine. Keep in mind we're talking about analgesia...

well its being smoked not injected so just smoke it till you feel high...

There is no way anyone can teoll you, not even remotely close. First, illicit heroin isfull of all kinds of adulterants, secondly smoking runs into a while different bioavailabilty issue.

Phrozen is right that heroin is 3 times as effective than the equivalnt dosage of morphine but only in crossing the blood to brain barrier, not in true equigesic dosing which relies on both pure substances AND same mode of administration (morphine in your case being an oral perp and the heroin be smoked).
