I've never encountered a more Opiophobic group of pharmacists in my whole fucking life.
I went to go fill my Dilaudid script. They didn't believe it was real. So I am like "here we fucking go again" they call the doctor, she says its real. Then they question whether or not she is a legit doctor, then they call Kaiser and make sure. Then they call her back and tell her they will only fill it if it's 2mg, and only 30 at a time. Fucking assholes.

You really gotta find a good mom and pop pharmacy. All of the chains are complete shitheads when it comes to filling narcotics. Doesn't matter - Target, Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens - They all seem to get off on having the "power" to deny filling a narcotic prescription. I had one pharmacist one time do the same thing to me. This was several years ago after I had my third ankle surgery and I was on crutches and had a cast on. I had just had a metal plate and 8 screws removed from my ankle and they put a longer plate with 14 screws into my ankle. So needless to say I was in pretty severe pain. They took care of my pain in the hospital, but gave me the scripts to fill for at home. They phoned ahead with the script information so they would be expecting me. My scripts were for a large amount of painkillers, and antibiotic to prevent a bone infection, as well as soma for muscle spasms. So the pharmacist called the doc and verified everything. I thought it should be okay. I was wrong. The the pharmacist then says, "Well....I don't know. I still just don't really feel comfortable filling this for you right now. You are going to have to come back later and talk to so and so." I was so fucking angry. I was livid. I had just left the hospital like twelve hours earlier from having surgery and this fucker didn't want to fill my scripts. He wanted me to wait until later. Had I not been on crutches I probably would've jumped over the counter and choked him to death. It still makes me furious thinking about it. Anyways...like I said first off - if you find a good mom and pop pharmacy, they will really value you as a customer and take good care of you. Especially after you come back and give them repeat business and they get to know you a little better. Then they won't hassle you about your scripts and won't give you any shit at all because they know you are legit. It took a little bit of searching, but I found a great non-chain pharmacy and I haven't had a single problem since. Just my suggestion. Take care,

Robbing a pharmacy for oxys and fentanyl alone is just dumb. That's obviously an amateur. If they knew anything, they'd go for the Dilaudid, morphine, Nembutal, and better stuff than fucking oxys and fentanyl...dumb fucking amateurs.
Right about the mom and pops, though. They have so much more customer service. Places like CVS, Walgreen's, Eckerds, etc. act like they are doing you a FUCKING FAVOR by filling your prescription like they are supposed to do BY LAW! If drives me nuts. You don't want my business, I will GLADLY take taht shit elsewhere, it's the same price at the mom and pops (unless you don't have insurance) and they treat you so much better. I say let's start a country-wide movement to have everyone getting prescriptions from big chain pharmacies to switch to mom and pop.

Good point. I was assuming that if someone pays up the ass for Dilaudid, they won't be wasting their time popping them or snorting them, and go straight to the vein. Fent is good, but the most common forms are forms that don't really get you fucked up...like Duragesic. That's more for people in pain, not recreation. And if you do use it for recreation, it becomes very dangerous. I just can't imagine someone taking the time to rob a pharmacy and only stealing those 2 drugs. To me, there are better ones out there for junkies. Which would you rather have? My take (Dilaudids, morphines, barbiturates, and maybe a few Fent lollipops, or his take: fentanyl (don't know which form either patches or lollipops), and oxycodone (again don't know which form of oxy)?

Not to stick up for pharmacists, but it requires almost as much schooling as med school. PharmBS degrees have been phased out and now you gotta get a PharmD degree. Takes roughly 6 years and no community college is going to get you through that.
Quote: "A bachelor's degree is not necessary for a PharmD degree. Pharmacy schools require at least 2 years of specific pre-pharmacy coursework in order to enter a PharmD program. However, the majority of students have 3 or more years of college experience upon entering pharmacy school."
Complete Pre-Pharmacy Courses
Take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT), if required by the school
Submit Application Form and Supplementary Materials (Essay, Letters of Recommendation, Transcripts, Test Scores, etc.)
Interview, if required by the school"This 4-year professional degree trains students to practice pharmacy after licensure. Acceptance to a program requires completion of two years of undergraduate pre-pharmacy coursework thus equaling a minimum of 6 years post-secondary education. The PharmD degree can also lead to graduate studies in the areas of pharmaceutical care, pharmaceutical sciences, and pharmaceutical health policy and management. A license to practice pharmacy is required in all 50 states. In the past, you could qualify with a PharmBS degree, but it has been phased out as an entry-level pharmacy degree in favor of the PharmD degree. New students are no longer being accepted into any remaining PharmBS programs."

Yea not to stick up for pharrmacists either but in california they have to have doctorette (Sp), i don't know how to spell that. They changed that like 10 years ago and that requires more schooling.
As for mom and pops yea they are pretty good but i have one near my house and one of the pharmacist there is really picky about getting meds early. Actually I've had pretty good luck with the chain pharmacies but i look a lot different than Morphine, it's not fair but it's true. They are more likely to hassle someone like Morphine because the way he looks, tats etc.. and me, while i look like the girl next door, it is totally unfair and not right. People judge you by how you look, it's always been that way and sadly always will i guess.
Sorry to hear of your problems with the Target Pharmacy. I actually got my trams like 15 days earlier but i told the pharmacist i was going to Canada, and of course Tramadol ain't no dilaudids so of course it would be different thatn Trams, trams aren't even scheduled. But still, some pharmacist WILL NOT let me get my trams early, but most will.

Of course I'd really never want there to be disaster but sometimes i imagine there was one or something that caused everyone to leave. And I'd stay behind, get in the car and hit every darn pharmcy in the area. I'd bring a couple duffle bags and fill them up.
And than I'd stop at all my fav stores and get all the computer crap i needed and everything i ever wanted. Come home and set every thing up, put the drugs in a safe hiding place and be high for a long long time lol.

Only one problem: All the "good" drugs are kept in a safe not unlike a big gun safe you can buy. And it's more sophisticated. That's for CII drugs, though. You could get all the Xanax, Valium, hydros you want, but the good stuff is going to be locked up...especially if it's a disaster. At Walgreens, you have to unlock a big safe, and then once inside, there's another small safe you have to open! Short of dynamite, it would be difficult to get to the goodies.

It really depends on the individual pharmacy. I have worked at 3 different Walgreen's, and none of them had a "good" safe. 2 of them were just wooden lock-boxes, which could easily be pried, and the largest I worked at, which also had ean enormous supply of CII's, had them locked in a wooden chest with glass display windows, so it was easier to see where the meds are before opening it!!
I dont think the law specifies the degree of securitY offered by the safe. It only states that CII's must be locked away separate from other controlled/legend drugs.
The pharm with the "glass" safe was so busY that we kept many popular CII's sitting on the filling station bench. This was usually 500 count bottles of perc (5/325, and 10/325), 30mg mscontin, and Adderall.
If we would not have left these out, we would have always been behind, as we filled 400-800 scripts a day, so we would have been running to the safe every couple of minutes.
The pharmacists could have gotten in trouble for this im sure. It was crazy. Every time I worked the graveyard shift, I would clean up the work station. I always found at least 10 percs, sometimes as many as 30. As well as roxi's, msir's, amphetamine, dilaudid, etc There was always 30-50 unit doses of CII's that were sitting under the scales, or mixed into the bins that contain the empty bottles. It was always really tempting to "throw away" some of these, into my pocket. (When we find non-controlled meds, we threw them away).
I miss the late-night shifts though. You meet some crazy people, and see alot of forged rx's. We were actually held up at gunpoint 2x during the night-shift, both times were for nothing but OC. If you are going to rob the place, why not steal everything in the safe? You will already go to prison for years for armed robbery, so why not walk out with every CII, and CIII-IV you can get your hands on. Amateur's

Yep, things have tightened up, as many of you have noted...back when the goodies were known as "Class A's", SuperX drugstores, in the south, kept'em all in a the same area, in a wooden safe, and a crowbar and a pillowcase, and some fast running shoes, and one could be in and out, with the alarm blaring the whole time, long before the cops got there. For years, it was a good play, if one liked opiates, and had little moral qualms against commecial theft...Finally, they got wise, and one night swim got to safe, and it was empty, and after a cursory look-around, one less thief plagued drug stores. The crime-partner kept at it, and was popped a drugstore or two later.

I used to hate Target in general. Then I got a script for Xanax and went and got it filled. Without insurance, Target was really cheap and had a good generic brand of Xanax. And the guy that day WAS THE NICEST PHARMACIST I'VE EVER MET.
I go back to get my refill and there was a different pharmacist that day who gave me absolute shit over fucking Xanax! But in the end, I got my refill and stormed out. Didn't say anything because I'm not really confrontational and I wanted my Xanax so I didn't make a scene. But I won't be going there again even though they do have the 2nd lowest prices (after WalMart) for prescription drugs when you don't have in insurance.
But I know what you mean. Tell them you won't be coming there ever again and take your business elsewhere. I don't know why so many pharmacists have such a problem with controlled substances? They of all people should understand that these drugs SERVE A PURPOSE and aren't just made for addicts. Damn, get a new career if you think all controlled substances are written for addicts. Usually, it's quite the contrary.

I have to agree, m&p pharmacies are so much easier to deal with. I found that out years ago when I didn't have insurance. The chain pharmacies tend to stick it to the customer without insurance. When I started buying from a small local based pharmacy, I literally saved 40-50 a month on all my meds. It varies some, but usually I would save money on most scripts. Another thing I like is that you usually are dealing with the same people everytime. The stigma of opiates is bad enough, but its worse when a pharmacist tries to make you feel like crap because of it. At a m&p pharmacy, I've found that once they get to know you, they show you allot of respect.
I just got a perc script filled the other day... that was after getting one filled just 12 days eariler. My insurance would not pay, due to it being way early, but the pharmacist let me just fill it and pay out of pocket. Most chain pharmacies would not have done that. They are really kewl up there..

I would like to know who made these fucking phamacists medical doctors anyway. Didn't they just specialize in medications and the doctors are supposed to be the once who have their choice on what meds they precribe for certain conditions.
they aren't doctors by any means. You can get a pharmacy degree at any community college. I dunno what their fucking issues are but a lot of them really act like they are doing you a favor.
Big time pain in the ass.....
Ghost is right. You can not get a Pharm degree at any old community college, it is a 6 year program and is generally only offered at large universities. Some RPhs are assholes, I will agree with that in a heartbeat but it is their license and they do have the right to refuse to fill ANY RXs including ones for birth control or the "morning after pill" if they choose to do so.
And moviebuff, your statement above is not always the case. Some pharms keep CIIs right on the shelf with other meds. The law here in my state says that CIIs either have to be on the shelf alphabetical with all other drugs or all together in a locked cabinet, they can not be all together unlocked. Most of these locked cabinets are no more than a locking filing cabinet with a keyed latch or a small padlock.
