i ended up with Teva\'s instead of brand and i am NOT happy about it.

i chewed the first one and that was absolutely disgusting. gel all over the back of my teeth. it \'worked\' but it seemed like only 15-20mg instead of the 40mg. then i tried the Ike method of crushing up the pill and adding it to warm water and keeping the water warm on the stove. Ike recommends 2-4 hours, but i only did it for 1 hour (i couldn\'t wait). it worked ok, but not as good as i wanted. so now i have one on the stove for over 2 hours now. i also added a little lemon juice hoping that it would act somewhat like stomach acid and help break up the gel/release the goodies.

over the two hours on the stove, i noticed that the gel \'un-gels\' bit by bit. i am assuming that the goodies are actually encapsulated \'in\' the gel, so when it is all gone, all the oxycodone is released. it\'s good to know that all the gel dissolves in approximately 2 hours (on the stove on the lowest heat setting - the water is approximately body temperature). but i wonder how the manufacturer can claim 12-hour relief if all the drug is released in 2 hours... or is that not the case? hmmm.

anyway, when i picked these Teva\'s up i was led to believe they were \'brand\'. always INSIST on brand!</p>

I got my OC refill yesterday and called all over town looking for brand. Not ONE place carried them, as they all say insurance won't pay for the brand's. My first OC fill was also those damn Teva footballs and they suck.

So I started asking WHICH generics they carried, looking for Endo's or Watson's...anything but Teva's. Finally Riteaid guy said they carried Endo's. Went there to fill it and could barely see them getting it ready. I see little pink guys and they looked like Teva's...I was getting pissed, but wasn't gonna say anything.

Payed for them and got to my car and they were the Watson ABG's. Very happy about that! They work 10 times better....

Next time call around and find out who carries what. If a pharmacist inquires why you wanna know, just tell him the last generics you had didn't work at all and you simply want to avoid them again. (Posted this story elsewhere, sorry if ya read it twice!)

Nice! I'm glad that worked out for you. I stay away from the Endo's too myself. I burned my nose so bad on them once, i wouldn't even consider shooting one.

I don't snort or shoot em, I'm oral only. I get lit pretty good still just by chewing them up in my front teeth or using a pill crusher.

I swear these ABG's are the same damn thing as the brand OC's. They look and taste EXACTLY the same except for the marking on the pill.

They are exactly the same. They are made by purdue, just distributed by Watson.

Thanks...I thought that had to be the case. I heard those were going away due to a lawsuit by Purdue or something like that???

They have already stopped stocking them (months ago actualy), but pharmacies can still sell current store/warehouse stock.

The Teva ride is supposed to be coming to an end, unless it was extended again. But the last I heard, they were supposed to stop selling them late 07, so it should be ending soon.

This would leave only brand, which is great for those of use who get a monthly script. There is also speculation that once the Teva's are gone, Purdue will go back to giving Watson permission to distribute the ABG's, which would be great!

Nice find on the ABG's by the way. They are becoming really scarce anymore. I get 10's and 20's every month, and actually found ABG's in 10's this month. No luck on the 20's, though I cant complain about brand.

i heard that Purdue is going to start adding that gel shit to the OCs, just like the Teva's. i have no idea if it is true, but god i hope it isn't.

Where did you hear that?

I'll look into and see if I find anything confirming it.... hopefully I will not.

So far taking a look news searche engines, news boards, as well as regular google results I cannot find anything stating or backing up that purdue is going to add anything new into there oxycontin tablets. Mostly I found stories of other drug companies making "abuse resistant oxycontin" but we all know that as of now no other companies are allowed to produce them by law so purdue took care of that problem. I saw one story back in 1999 of a abuse resistant form coming from purdue and alot of other websites seem to carry the exact same story but it doesn't have any sources and obviously it hasn't happened yet. What it really comes down to is that no matter how hard you try you really cant make an "abuse resistant" opiate as the media portrays is possible. 'Junkies' for lack of a better name are very resourceful and we will always find new ways of abusing things (as if abuse is a bad thing). Whether its letting them seep in water for 8 hours and re-drying the powder on a hot plate for ingestion, we will do what it takes.

i just heard it somewhere. apparently it's a rumor at this point.

in experimenting with these Teva's, i found that if you chew the whole thing up and break up all the pieces with your front teeth (they gel up, we all know that) but then keep breaking up the GEL with your front teeth so that it (the gel) is in many many many tiny pieces, the release was pretty instantaneous (AND i was on about 6mgs of sublingual Sub from the night before!). i was very surprised since i had chewed them before and got the little hit of instant release (maybe 15mg out of a 40mg pill) that came and went quickly. with this method - chew pill, break up gel, swallow - it hit me with almost the same effectiveness of a brand OC40. and on top of that, as mentioned above, i still had bupe in me from the night before. maybe the bupe/naloxone had something to do with it, i dunno.

(note: your mouth will be very full of saliva when you eventually swallow the broken-up gel - kinda gross, but you guys are used to more gross things than a little saliva! :D )

the best effects I have gotten with pills like these is putting them in my lip....I may get some skin erosion, but its usually pretty minimal, along the lines of chewing betel nut without lime.

the taste is not that bad, at least in my mouth, the bitter of morphine or codeine is about perfect.

I think that morphine sulfate is more absorbable in the area of the mouth.

think about it, the drug sits in the lip, slowly gets masticated all over the mouth...then, slowly starts moving downt he throat...120 milligrams can be absorbed by the mouth without the bulk of the material making it to the stomach, dry out your mouth with a towel, and then add the morphine and its even more absorbed.

I took a few of these pills on a trip a year ago, and I got a horrible attack of diarrhea in the middle of the night, food reaction, stress, I dont know the cause....I broke open one of the 120's avinza pills, and lipped it, feel asleep with it still in my mouth, and it slowly absorbed over a period of time...5 hours later there were still a bit in there, and the stomach problems were completely gone.

there has to be some possible solvent/polar extraction for these pills I would think.
