I'm watching this flick on TCM out of the corner of my eye, while plowing thru opy threads looking for no-no's but you'all are being really good, so me and the mods got it easy...Steve McQueen was such a cool guy and a good actor. I forget his story, but he was in reform school or some sort of hard knock deal, and when I was a kid, he was the kind of guy I wanted to be when I grew up, tough but cool too. I remember when he was dying of cancer, and was running down to Mexico and trying all those apricots cancer remedy (laetril?)and shit.

In this movie he's a gambler, and oh shit, it started in New Orleans, and that was a beautiful old city, and I've shot up dope and drank many a beer there. Once the boat was a the doc in Venice, LA and we were in for 24 hrs to resplice some anchor cables, and the tenders had to work, but I was a diver, and me and this other cat thumbed into New Orleans to get some dilaudids, and thumbed back to boat, me and a guy I'd been in prison with in California...later he ratted me out on a beef in Louisiana. Such is junky life... Johnny Freeman...u read this u know who u r, know what u did...ah good old days...

Yeah good movie, kinda long tho....they had some good actors in that movie, a very young Rip Torn plays his nemisis.........the theme song was badass, by Ray Charles, my favorite junky musician......I used to play alot of poker, and that was one of my fav movies, along with Rounders......Steve McQueen was an all around bad ass, Bullit was a good movie, and I think he did all the driving in that....like all his roles, he really learned the stuff he played in the movie....he was also trained by Bruce Lee in Jeet Kun Do....thats all the useless information I have for the moment...
