yea, uhhhh i was born in India, so this doesn't suprise me in the least. ummmm the hard facts of life are that while it is alarming to westerners that many ppl there die in pain....there are many many things that need fixing in the country. it just hasn't advanced along far enough....first because of inner fighting, then because of the british opression. pallitive care came in the U.S. and many other places because most of the molecules were synthesized by european companies....and it will take time to overcome social taboos, poverty, and overall suffering in India.

It's strange-when I read this article knowing what kind of problems India has, the disproportion of wealth the size of it's population. Poverty. I think how the west and our policies effect such a great Country. The thing is I'm sure there is drug abuse but what they really want is Food and Jobs, were the ones who want the Morphine!

Alot of people die in pain in this country too, I think
its an international problem. If you don't have cancer
pain watch out, your pain dosen't count. People have
to be very proactive and their own doctors to get the
right treatment. .:bricks:

I thought you could buy opium from the government in certain regions of India.
