Intraveinous Fentanyl dosage and water solubility questions.

I have recently come across a source for 5 packs of .5mg (500mcg) Fentanyl ampules intended for IV use. I want to get them BAD but I am afraid of the horror stories regarding people ODing on small amounts of this stuff. SO my question/solution is this:

If I get this shit I'd like to mix it with some water to dilute it and make it less easy to kill myself on it. Is the shit even water soluble in the vials? I used to have a hell of a tolerance but now I can get jammed off of snorting one 40mg oxycontin, so what would be a good place to start as far as my first IV dosage? I am thinking about 50mcg to start, but I honestly don't know and am not very enthusiastic about playing 'Trial and Error' with this shit. I'd appreciate any help.

For a totally opiate-naive patient, and make sure this is FENTANYL we're talking about, not SUFENTANYL, which is a good deal more potent (and more pleasurable). a dose of fentanyl would by like 20-30 micrograms. the vials probably hold 100 micrograms, so just dilute like 1/3 drug with 2/3 water and band away. Myself, I just slam the whole 100mikes.

I have exprience with fentanyl and can that 100 micrograms IV is just like doing a nice fat $20 bag of SouthEast Asian tan colored-smack (a little on the heavy side).

50micrograms of SUFENTANYL WAS EQUIVALENT TO 100 micrograms of FENTANYL. It's twice as potent.

MAN! PLEASE!!! BE SO FUKKIN CAREFUL! Start SOOOOO small and work ya way up...and when I say SOOOO small....I REALLY MEAN SOOOOOO-SOOOOOOOOOO-SOOOOOOOO small. 100 ug patches used as prescribed are the max. Beyond that you're going to OD and possibly stop breathing. Half a bottle of wiskey gets you as drunk as an entire bottle. Thry to enjoy what you have, make it last, stay functional.

I've got fentanyl citrate 2ml.or.05mg per vial for im injection which doesn't do shit for me,no euphoria just a pain in my ass.Being that its supposed to be so powerful i've been careful,now its time to up the dose.Maybe that'll help you

Around the time my back first started hurting, i got a batch of those 75 mcg patches that were defective, i have never been higher or more frightened from being that way, at that time my tollerance was starting to build up thank the gods, cuz i put one on at bedtime, the first night was the greatest, cuz it would get warm under the covers and i would wake up feeling great, but this time was different, the whole patch insta released over an hour and a half, i woke up clawing at my face i was itching so bad, and had a little trouble breathing, i took the patch off and it was empty already, 3 days worth of meds instantly, i lived obviously, but i took the box back and traded for one from a different batch, later i saw a commercial for a lawsuit where people had died from those patches.

Mark- Be really careful.

Fentanyl- For I.M. injection: 50-100 mcg. I.M. every 1-2 hours. Duration is 1-2 hours.

For I.V. it is generally 2 mcg/kg, which is a low dose. Every 2-3 hours. Fentanyl has a duration of .5- 1 hour when given I.V., but to play it safe, go a bit longer.

To convert kg. to lbs. divide your weight in lbs by 2.2 and you will get your weight in kg.

This is just what I took out of my nursing drug guide. Be careful. How many mls. in the vial?
It really is a powerful drug and if you are still feeling cautious maybe even 1 mcg/kg. Try the lowest dose first and see how you feel. Especially if you are alone or no one will be around for a while.
This is one of those times when having Narcan handy is needed.

I really dont think that water would do any thing you have to use an alcohol based substance to dilute the gell.About 10 years ago swim would bust open one of those 75mcg. patches and scrape the gell out of patch and pack it in a 1 cc syringe and he would i.v. it he said you better have someone else around just in case always be carefull with something that is so powerful it will kill you. Respitory depression is the downfall especially if you dont have a habit.

If you are not EXTREMELY tolerant, start with 2mcs of Fentanyl IV, Mixing with water will have NO effect. You can increase by 2mcs at a time, every hour or two depending on yout tolerance. PLEASE start small, having Narcan and someone else around are excellent suggestions. !-2mcg 's IV is the standard 1st dose when used in the OR, or hospital for pain control or anesthesia. If you "get jammed snorting 40mg of oxy "that should do ya fine. PLEASE DO NOT DO 50mcs, It will KILL YOU, your tolerance is not that high . There are people who can handle 50mcs total, but not at once including myself who got a total of 200mcs over a 2 hour period dduring a procedure and was still wide awake, I am on the patch though and have an extreme tolerance to Fentanyl. I don't mean to be a nervous Nellie, and hope I'm notcoming across as preachy, I don't mean to be, but you can always increase your dose, however, if you slam too mcuh there may be no coming back. Use common sense and heed everyone's advice, you should be just fine. ENJOY!

Sorry Flipside, but this is just not true. The low range of doses for anesthesia to produce "conscious sedation" in non-tolerant patients is 2mcg per kg. That means that if you weigh 198 lbs. then your low range dose would be 180 mcg. Look it up if you do not believe me.
