I rented the movie 'Frida' from Netflix and when our cable went out last night i finally watched it. I didn't know much about Frida, i did know she was a unique artist, bi-sexual, liked to dress up as a man sometimes and was married to another artist but what i didn't know is that she dealt with chronic pain her whole life from a bus accident as a teenager.
Very interesting. At the end of her life she was on 24/7 IV meds, not sure which, probably Morphine. The movie didn't say which drug it was just showed her track marks and her sister shootin' her up.

I didn't think i was gonna enjoy the movie but i did, it was a great movie. Now i gotta google her and read more up on her. She led a very interesting life.

Actually, she kinda reminds me of myself... like she didn't belong in that space in time.

Poor thing though, she was in such pain all the time. I guess she broke her back in the accident, the movie didn't say what er exact injury was but she was in body casts and back braces through out the movie.

Anyway, just thought I'd share and see if anyone else had seen the movie or new anything about her.

Yeah I loved the movie as well. I knew a little about her before seeing the film, but the movie was really well done in my opinion. She suffered serious injuries in the accident while riding a bus, and the worst of it was a broken spinal column. She was in constant pain and had 35 operations in her life. Supposedly she died from a morphine overdose that may have been with suicidal intent.

Yea, i just googled her and read about all that. Her official death was pulminary something but like you said, her unofficial death was probably a morphine overdose that may or may not have been intentional. I wish the movie would have gone a bit more into certain things but i did love it.

I wonder why she did soe many self-portraits.
