This may be a fairly ambiguous question but I just want to see what people think. I've not an avid drug user and not even a novice. The only things I've tried that you could in the lowest sense call drugs really are alcohol, cigarettes, and hydrocodone which will run out after my next refill for my wisdom teeth I got out in July. I'm wondering how did you guys, if you are using recreationally, start going about obtaining drugs? Like did it just kind of happen like you and your friends over time getting into the whole thing? I don't really hang out with people much and don't know anybody who could offer a drug connection. I'm 18 and finishing out my senior year at high school. I'm wondering do you think it would be wise for me to go around embarrassing myself while trying to ask some people nonchalantly about a connection or should I just wait until time tells like while I'm in college? It's kind of an annoying feeling when I just want to try some different drugs, mind you not to the point of excess, just to get a feel but I guess it's not worth getting strung out over. :P
-Thanks

It sort of just happened around this area. Basically the gist of it was, most folks smoked pot in high school. Then MDMA came around(never tried it, sounded dim to me) then this one kid gets out of prison....Then drugs just blew up in this small town of ours. Cocaine, meth, and prescription painkillers(never heroin) were everywhere all of a sudden. Several of SWIM's close friends even became dealers so SWIM was almost always set, and in a big damned way. Said former inmate is now back in prison for manufacturing meth but he's changed this small town forever I'd say. We have an inordinate(at least from my experience) amount of 'hard drug' users in this town. I see quite young kids doing pretty hard drugs quite a lot kinda crazy. Maybe I should make a documentary

"I just want to try some different drugs"
i suggest you avoid cocaine, meth, and the strong pure opiates like heroine, morphine, hydromorphone, fentanyl, etc. untill you've had the opportunity to become friends with some addicts and get some insight into thier lifestyle and financial situation. just be a non-participating observer for a while. this will help you build stregnth to resist addiction when you do decide to try them. It is absolutely vital that you have self control in excess or else you will lose precious time and money looking for your next great high. nothing wrong with experimentation, but just as pilots don't fly untill thier trained, people shouldn't get high on addictive drugs until they know exactly what to expect, and how to deal with it!!
be safe and have fun!
