I've decided to make the switch from suboxone to methadone, being honest and straight to the point, I want a buzz. After reading alot on here, its obvious to me now that sub is mainly for people who want off opiates alltogether. Main question I have is, how strong is the buzz from done? if you can compare the buzz I got from taking 5 10/500 vicodin at once, how many milligrams of methadone would a clinic most likely have to slowly taper me up to, in order to acheive a very similar or same buzz I got from taking vicodin? one other thing, do methadone clinics dose you just once a day or do you take the pill they give you in the morning when you get there and another one before bed?

A few things here. First off, they will start you at a fairly low dose, 30-40 mgs. You will most liely feal a very slight bump about an hour after you take it for sevral days, but you may feel sick in the evenings until you get a "stable" dose. Once that happens, if you want to keep getting that "buzz" you will hve to continue to increase your dose. There are people on 300, 500, even 700 mg daily, and I think this is why. I have heard people say "my dose isn't working any more," when what they mean is "I don't feel that bump any more." When I got to a stable dose, I stopped the increases. No more warm fuzzies, but I wasn't dope sick. You can talk to them about increasing whenever you want. To get it done you usually just have to spew out some of the WD symptoms you are "having," and they will put you up.
As for split doses, that probably depends on the clinic and their/the state's policy. At one clinic in the south I couldn't split my dose until I had been on the program for a while without any fuckups, although I did get a Sunday takehome right away. When I did finally get split dosing, they would either give me a certain amount in the morning and send me with a bottle of the rest, or with take homes I got two bottles for each day. At a clinic in the north I couldn't get split doses at all, and it took me months of "clean" time to get my first bottle when I could split dose myself. They didn't like me splitting my dose there and I was told not to mention that I did that.

Yeah, uh, good luck with that! What I mean is, one of the main reasons why methadone is used to treat addiction is that most people feel very little, if any buzz from it. When I got on it, I was sick as hell from a Morphine habit. They gave me 30mg the first day, and I barely felt anything but some relief from the sickness. After that, I was allowed to go up only 5mg every OTHER day, which sucked, but I imagine they do it that was for two reasons. One is that nobody can increase faster than they get tolerant, meaning that there should be no buzz for the patient, otherwise EVERYBODY would be wanting on methadone. The other is that some people might lie about their habit and not only get buzzed, but dead as well from an OD. That's something that clinics want to avoid at all costs.

Once I got up to 100mg, I wasn't allowed to increase further without seeing the doc and the counselor. They finally allowed me to get to 130, but I had to fight like hell for it and STILL didn't feel much more than a slight warm glow for just a few minutes if I took it all at once and early in the morning. I'd hardly call that a buzz! There is a chance that you are one of those few people who have a metabolism that WILL allow you to get somewhat buzzy from the stuff, but as far as I am (and many others are) concerned, getting a buzz off of methadone is nothing more than a big dream that will never come true. Now, if you were to get "lucky" enough to get a BIG dose the very first time, you would probably feel something good from it, as long as it wasn't TOO big. I can recall having some very BAD feelings from a monster dose, mainly sweating like a pig for a long, long time, itching like a MF, and just generally being one irritable SOB, but your mileage may vary. Like I said, good luck with that!

I'd say that if you allready have a habit, then methadone isn't a good thing to try and get stoned on.

If you are an ocasional user then you can get stoned off your face all day from methadone, when I was a kid the first few times I had meth, we'd pay some fucking junky ass hole a few £ and he'd let us take a random sized chug from his monster bottle of meth... Fucking stupid... What a dick he was. I've heard of people with no habit going over on less than 50ml.
