My old doc Rx'd me two of the lowest dose clonidine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clonidine) patches for when I run out of meds until I can get a new doc out here. I've had the patch on for about three days now and it's burns a bit and it sore to the touch.

Is this normal or am I just having a mild reaction to the adhesive or something?

I posted this in general as more people will see it, and since it's not life threatening or anything (hell, to me - not much is - lanced my first and only abscess) I don't feel it belongs in a 'Health Pro' Area..

Are you using any type of cover over the patch or do you have just the patch on? If you have a cover, they do tend to increase the incidence of redness and/or itching in the area of the patch. It sounds like your reaction is a little more intense though than just redness and itching. You should let your doc know - is there any reason you can't take it in tablet form? Sounds like you may need to switch if that's a possibility. It's more likely that it's the adhesive rather than the drug.

Forgot....

Some redness and itching (mild) is not at all uncommon. It shouldn't be sore at all though, that is why you should talk to the doc and let him/her know about the reaction.
