How many of you miss the point system? I'd really like it back. Who else would like it back?
I know stupid poll, I'm just curious to see how many people liked it as much as me.

Hi duck, ive had a question about the point system changes that ive wanted to ask about but didnt want to waste bandwith on a new thread and was hoping you could fill me in now that someone just posted about it...
I know in the past to get access to the restricted poppy horticulture/tea/vendor subforums that you needed 500 points and a certain amount of posts before allowed to view. But now that points are a thing of the past, are members like myself no longer able to view these sections? Or do you now just need the right number of posts to get in?
Anyways, sorry if this has already been posted somewhere and i missed it. Thanks

I liked it because you could see your points go up and then go read the little note somebody dropped you.
Now that I realized you can still drop people a note, its cool. But since most people don't regularly mess around with their user options they would never notice it was there...

that's exactly why I liked it; it gave everyone a chance to relate to each other on a one to one basis or more personal level at times...often when I was bummed out, I would read positive words sent from someone who enjoyed my posts and feel a great deal better than before I signed on...

It doesn't affect me either way.
I personally see no need for it. As it is just going to arous the interests of some newbie kidiots to give each other buttloads of points and leading the worthwhile new users to beleive these idiots know a thing or two because they have points. So for that reason I say do away with it. If you want to message and leave notes you can PM someone about said post or email them, or add them to a messenger if they have one. The points system nowadays creates more BS than it makes things better. Too many idiots wanting to get tons of points and trading points with other people thinking it's something.
So yeah, I could care less, but if I had to choose I'd personally say leave it gone.

^Not that it matters any more but it would have caused less drama to just ban those few people abusing the point system instead of eliminating the whole thing all togather. I wish it was still around, since it showed who the respected members were and because I would listen to what they had to say more so than someone with a low point count (like if they were arguing over a topic). I can understand why you would see no need for it though, in all the years I have read this site I noticed you didnt get very many (no offense) so werent attached to them like some of the other members around here were.

I believe that there still is a basic admission requirement (like number of posts/how long you've been a member).
Or you could just donate to Opiophile and get immediate access. If you can afford drugs, you can afford to donate to Opiophile.

Morning all, to clear this up once and for all..There is still a point system. It was reset..so we all started off with the same number of points. ( that was the only change made) As far as being attatched to them and the amounts, I had 30K+ and 550 something power..and mine were re-set along with everyone elses. So to single Ike out and say he did not care bc he did not have many is not really fair.
Rep points and comments can still be given. go to your user options and scroll down to see who left you points and rep comments
To leave rep/points click on the scale under the persons avatar and leave your comment.
The system is still in place and works the same way it did before..the only thing that changed was everyone's points were re-set.
So go ahead and give points..and leave your comments. I pointed someone just yesterday.
So as far as the restricted acess forums nothing there has changed. The requirements are posted in the guide deviated wrote up and is stickied in the general forum.. Same for PM privledgs. It's more to do with post count and length of membership..not points.
Or , if you are too new....donate like Bron said and you will get immediate acess to Pm privledges and restricted froums.
Hope that helps clear it up
'
Bottom line is the point system is still here and works the same way it did before..with the exception of the points & rep being re-set...and displyed in number values..instead the green blocks are used.

The only scale I see anywhere on the screen is under my own user name, I dont see any scales for anyone else'. I just see a green little box saying everyone is at "an unknown quantity". I guess since im new I cant see the scales yet or give rep.

I am a ego-maniac, and the point system was my only means of measuring how big a man I was.
I miss it dearly

LOL. Funny, funny, funny!
Yup, I guess we'll have to go back to old fashioned 'dick measuring' contests.

No biggie: it was one of those "general" underneath chemicals or something....easy to do, and there's always different ways of looking at this, no problem at all, and seems like a lot of people were glad to get off their chest some of this...all the best, goddess :-)

Yer doing fine, Goddess. I'm still a new moderator, and periodically get things wrong, but the admins and other moderators give me slack as I learn on y'all's watch...so if every once in a while something totally bizarro happens, and u see "duckfeet" lurking around in the background--or foreground--that's what it could be. Pay no mind, yer a good and valued Opy member , and this poll is effective and useful...just me growing up in public ;-)

I didn't care about the points...but I did like the little notes people would leave...and that's still there, and that still means a lot to people... I had one guy used to always irritate me, and then he left the kindest fucking six word note, and changed everything, and I read it still. So you can still click and leave points, but more than anything, you can tell someone that you liked their post, or their attitude, or cheer'em up if they seem down...hell' Devilsdrug once wrote me a nice one, and that should be framed it meant so much to me....so, nothing's gone of import...and what remains is the gist of it, anyway...
