id say that 95% of people here know what "SWIM" stands for.
my question/comment is this: would it really get one off the hook in a court of law if one stated
that "swim" did it?
i was just thinking of the hilarious dialog in potential court situation.
District Attorn3y (DA): "let the court note the box of "decorative flower pods" as I ask the defendant. who ordered these online?" or.... " who is responsible for this forty story high smacklab"
defendant: oh, ...SWIM!
DA: SWIM? would you care to indulge the court on what a SWIM is?
defendant: sure, counseler; "someone who isnt me"
(courtroom erupts in laughter)
see where i'm going with this? i just think its silly.
instead of saying it's you who might have done something, be more.... creative. ive seen it done by others here if you catch it.

It isnt so much for helping you, But for helping the site stay out of trouble. :)
I think WC is making the VERY valid point that SWIM is dumb. It's just old.We all know the legal niceties, but come on be creative.
In future I'm gonna just say that "it" was WC.He's part of the conspiracy and has nothing to worry about. The worst thing that will happen is he'll end up sharing a cell with Scooter.
WC bro,you know I'm only messing.

:rolleyes:It isnt so much for helping you, But for helping the site stay out of trouble. :)
i'll meditate on that and get back to you. i never stated "swim" has ever helped me or this site staying
out of trouble. theres no rule here saying that using "swim" will help the site stay out of trouble.
oh wait. i think there is. oh well. i've always been a good dog.
the fact that there is no solicitation tolerated, but just thought exchanges is what saves...:)

Personally I really enjoy doing all my experiments on SWIM hes my favorite pet human.
I find his small hands work the keyboard to his computer much better than mine.
I'm currently working on building my own three block long personal keyboard out of a used sidewalk I found outside of Redmond Washington. The real trick is getting the slabs of concrete to spring back off of the many car jumper cables I set up under them. Not to mention the many many hours of soldering SWIM had to do to splice and build a adapter to fit into his PC's keyboard input port.
SWIM and I did have some success with a Projector monitor shot at his garage door it lets me see the forum without my usual microscope.
.....Wacka wacka ...SPLARF! crunch CRUSH stomp!

SWIM thinks that if you're back's against the wall, the use of the word SWIM on a random website is prlly the least of your worries at that point. SWIM is not a life line and should not be used as a substitution for competent legal council. There SWIM said it.

I've got a friend (really!) who leaves all the security on his wireless and lan turned off. His philosophy being, the more fingerprints on the gun, the better. Though his concern is more for filesharing.
I still don't understand, legally, how anyone could prove any one computer was accessed by any one person. Example, in my office at least 15 or so people could use my computer; has reasonable doubt just completely gone out the window when it comes to computer crime? I'm thinking of all the RIAA lawsuits against students more so than what this board is about.

judge: Well son, In Alabama SWIM means "Someone Who Is Me." Bailiff, assist the defendant in tightening the noose around his neck.

judge: Let's show the defendant what we mean when we say "A big tall tree and a short piece of rope."
I doubt there's any rush by the authorities to study up on internet lingo for use as a valid defense.
"Well he did say SWIM, so I guess we can't use the kilo or the AK-47 that was sitting on top of the narcotics as evidence anymore."

Very interesting tactic. He should also disable any sort of logging on the router.. Randomly generated mac addresses are also a nice compliment to that.
Coffee shops & public wifi offer a similar "anonymity" aside from your MAC (l2 adapter address, not operating system).
